Gardener – Bank

Cygnet Hospital Beckton is located just a few minutes’ walk from Beckton Station on the Docklands Light Railway. The DLR has a number of connections with the District and East London underground lines, together with the North London British Rail line. The main road serving Cygnet Hospital Beckton is the A13 running east/west from Barking to the City. We offer a range of services across four wards for women with complex mental health needs including rehabilitation in a low secure environment, learning disabilities and personality disorder.

We are currently looking for an experienced gardener to carry out a range of seasonal gardening duties to maintain the upkeep and care of the hospital gardens, working on the Bank, as and when required.
The role will include maintaining lawns, looking after flowerbeds, borders and hedges, weeding and pruning our shrubs and small trees.

The ideal person would have a background in gardening and be competent in the use of Mowers, Strimmers, Hedge Trimmers and all other Gardening Machinery. This post would be suitable for someone who is semi-retired and/or has a real passion for gardening and take real pride in their work. You must have excellent communication skills and be well presented.
You will be expected to advise the Facilities Manager on potential gardening issues and help to plan areas that require improvement.

This is not a permanent position with fixed hours, the frequency of gardening hours required will be dependent upon the season requirements. The rate paid will be L8 per hour.
