Live in Groom for Private Estate in Berkshire : London



I run my own Domestic Recruitment Agency & have clients with a large private estate near Ascot in Berkshire looking for the following: Residential Groom/Animal Carer. At present there are three children’s ponies, 2 dogs & chickens on the estate but since the owners are always expanding their interests the number of ponies/horses may well increase in time. The employee will report to the Maintenance Manager & be contracted to work over a 6 day week, 8 hours each day but with flexibility. They will be given 1 full day off per week & required to be on standby half days on Saturday and Sundays for the Grandchildren to ride. Staff accommodation with own bedroom & other facilities shared with one other male employee will be provided on-site for a resident employee. Candidates should have a good understanding and checkable experience of Horsemanship. This position may appeal to an employee who already has good horsemanship knowledge but wants to develop their skills & experience further. The client is willing to enable an under-qualified candidate to get their qualifications. So that the employee can run errands related to their job they need to be a competent driver & MUST have the qualifications to drive a horse trailer as they will need to drive the ponies from the main estate to a second estate a few miles away for the grand children to ride. Duties will include the following; • Day-to-day care of horses and dogs (including a Great Dane) • Exercising the animals • Grooming • Feeding • Mucking out • Turning out and bringing in • Tack cleaning • Preparing horses for exercise and in the future competitions including dressage • Checking the general health of the animals, treating minor injuries • Training riders, especially young children • General yard duties such as sweeping the yard • Ordering all feeds and bedding materials • Be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions • Have a good general knowledge and experience of horse care and stable duties • Have an awareness of horse and dog illnesses and first aid Maintenance duties • Cleaning • Moving furniture of high value • Transporting the various items between the residences • Meeting and overseeing contractors • Getting quotes • Changing light bulbs • Checking salt levels in the properties • Reporting faults to the Maintenance Manager • Cleaning cars on a weekly basis The existing team working on the estate consists of young, energetic, dynamic employees who pay great attention to detail so this job would suit a Groom/Animal Carer with similar qualities. Salary offered is up to £15,000 gross per annum depending on experience.
